Before my story began, my parents first went through many hardships before I came into this world. We lived from hand to mouth back then, and my parents endured surviving on soy sauce and salt just to get by. When my aunt, the eldest among my mother’s siblings, helped us and was able to work abroad, our life gradually improved. By the time I was born into this world, our living situation had already become better.
Yessss finally and when i came to the word i was born in Ilagan City on June 22, 2006, And i was born with a name Austine. When I was still a child, I was already helping watch over my uncle’s computer shop. Every time school ended, I would go straight to the shop to look after it. Sometimes I got scolded because I spent too much time using the computers and playing together with the customers instead of focusing on watching the shop. Because of that, money and some items would sometimes go missing. My obsession with computers also affected my studies. My uncle tried to help me with school, but I was really stubborn. I would often sneak out just to play on the computer, and when I got home, I would get punished.
I still remember one Christmas when I left our house just to play computer games. I did not even join our family celebration because I was too addicted to computers, and when I came home, I got punished again. I also used to skip school just to spend time playing computer games.
When I reached high school, I became even more rebellious. I stopped attending classes almost every day because of my addiction to computers, but my parents did not know because they were busy working. My older brother was also studying in Grade 12 at that time, so he could not keep an eye on me. I was only in Grade 7 when I got my first girlfriend, and by Grade 8, I started hanging out with good friends. Because of that, I slowly lost interest in computers and became more focused on basketball.
Then the pandemic suddenly came, and I became addicted to computers again. I stopped doing my modules and kept failing my classes. I also became interested in biking. One time, during a ride to Cauayan, I accidentally fell asleep for a second because of exhaustion. When I opened my eyes, I hit the wheel of my companion’s bike and crashed. When I stood up, I discovered that my collarbone was broken. Because of that accident, I was unable to focus on my studies during Grade 9 and almost had to repeat Grade 8. Thankfully, I had an aunt who was a teacher at my school, and they understood my situation because of my injury.
When the pandemic ended, I slowly lost interest in computers and started focusing on my studies again. In Grade 11, I earned With Honors because I surrounded myself with good friends. It was also during this time that I truly got to know my girlfriend, and until now, we are still together. Nothing particularly special happened during Grade 11 aside from receiving honors and no longer being addicted to computers.
When I reached Grade 12, my girlfriend made me more aware of how I dressed and how people saw me. I became interested in streetwear brands like DBTK, Uniqlo, and Offhigh because I felt that wearing those clothes boosted my confidence.
It was also during this time that I decided to take Information Technology (IT) in college, although I was still unsure because I also wanted to study Nursing. In the end, I realized that I really loved computers, so I chose IT.
When I entered college, I realized that it was not only computers that interested me. I also became passionate about motorcycles. My girlfriend and I started going on rides together. Our first long ride was exhausting but very exciting because I was finally able to visit places that I had only seen in pictures before. We traveled around North Ilocos, Aparri, Vigan, and Baguio. It felt amazing to visit all those places just by riding a motorcycle.
Because of my addiction to motorcycles, almost all of my allowance now goes into motorcycle parts and accessories.
